Music THANK YOU TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SENT ME FAN MAIL!
I appreciate the support and it helps motivate me to make more music. Not all of it wil sound like these tracks -- a lot of it will sound almost like dance music, and on the other extreme a lot of it will sound like ambient soundscapes. And my voice will actually be in some of the songs. I plan to make hundreds of tracks within the next year. ![]() And for the other Djs out there: Some people have asked if I use special frequencies because the music sounds so hypnotic. Well, I don't use any special frequencies (even though I do know all about brainwave patterns) but the reason the notes sound so rich and full of body is from the two vacuum tubes that are on the output of the EMX. The electricity goes through these tubes and creates an anolog distortion effect that gives warmth to the music. Only the Korg Electribe series of Dj music production instruments have these awesome vacuum tubes. And the distortion created by the tubes is actually wonderful when the music is blasted on nice big woofers. Some of these tracks I made sound like crap when you listen to them on headphones because all the rich bass tones are absent, and all the high pitch treble notes take over and mix together to produce a "hiss" noise. Also when I first started recording, I had the computer input volume set to MAX, and the EMX volume set very low, which causes a little white noise hiss in the background. Now I've realized that the computer line input volume needs to be set to low, and the EMX needs to be turned up. If you are using Windows, you can get access to all the sound levels by opening up the Volume Control which is in the Accessories folder, then in the Entertainment folder. When you open it the first time, it only shows the playback volume control. Go to the menu and open it again, and another one pops up. Now select Properties from the Options menu, and click on Recording and hit OK. The window will change to show you all the recording volumes. You can then open up the simple windows recorder which is in same folder as the volume control. You need to change the sample rate by going to the Properties in the File menu, and then click on the Convert Now button. But the highest qaulity you can get is 48Khz 16bit stereo at 187kb/sec which is not nearly as good as what the EMX puts out. But you can also have several instances of the recorder program open all at the same time, which is great if you are using the EMX to process external sounds like voices that you are adding effects to, and you need to record a piece then mix it with other pieces. Click here to see what it all looks like set up and ready to go. So it pays to upgrade your computer sound card to 32bit and it will also come with much better recording software. The quality of sound comming dirrectly out of the EMX is so good that a CD can't even reproduce it, and an MP3 file also can't quite get high enough quality. That's why using the EMX live and playing the music dirrectly from the box then out to the club speakers is the best thing to do. It has a headphone jack for the Dj, then has individual left and right outputs, but also has 2 additional outputs which can be assigned to any of the instruments seperately, so they play only on those 2 outputs. This makes it possible to produce a surround sound that is incredible when spread across an entire warehouse or club scene. |
